Welcome to the ARTA. We are the United Kennel Club National Parent club for Rat Terriers.

We believe in the UKC philosophy that "Our Dogs Do Stuff" and therefore promote performance trials as well as conformation events.

The Rat Terrier is an energetic, strong, alert dog whose curiosity and intelligence make him easy to train. This personality makes the Rat Terrier excel at many performance events. The Rat Terrier is sometimes described as having a dual personality. He is a fearless, tenacious little hunter with seemingly unlimited energy. When he is not hunting, however, the Rat Terrier is an exceptionally friendly companion, getting along well with children, other dogs and even cats. Rat Terriers enjoy human companionship immensely and will enthusiastically share any activity with their owners.
